Dave Chappelle Is Hosting a Benefit Concert to Honor Dayton Shooting Victims
Prior to the premiere of his new Netflix stand-up special on Monday, Dave Chappelle is hosting a block party and benefit concert in Dayton, Ohio on August 25 in honor of the victims of the August 4 mass shooting. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Oregon district located downtown where the shooting occurred.
According to a Facebook event page, Chappelle will host the “Gem City Shine” benefit, while performers have yet to be announced. Those in attendance can expect local and national entertainment on the main stage near Fifth Street and Wayne. The event is free, but tickets are required for admission, only awarded to residents of Dayton and the surrounding areas.
Born in Washington, D.C., Chappelle grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio, which is just outside of Dayton. He still has a residence in Yellow Springs to this day.
