There's No Outswagging Dawn Staley's Coach Swag
For years, women's basketball players have proven to have just as much game as the guys (if not more in most cases). Lately, it seems more eyes than ever are on the women's college courts, from folks tuning into nail-biting face-offs between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to the 2024 NCAA Championship, where South Carolina took home the trophy.
South Carolina's women's basketball team, also known as the Gamecocks, defeated Iowa in Sunday's championship game, smashing records for the squad...and its uber-cool head coach, Dawn Staley.
With South Carolina's win, Staley became the first Black coach in Division 1 college basketball history to go undefeated for the entire season and the first Black coach to claim three D1 titles thus far. Of course, she checked off these history-making titles in a stylish outfit, preserving her crown as arguably the swaggiest coach out.
Specifically, Staley wore a shiny silver Louis Vuitton calfskin biker jacket ($5,730) paired with a graphic-free black top and plain black trousers.
Maintaining the LV vibes, the stylish coach finished the look with some creamy Louis Vuitton Trainers from the Tyler, the Creator collection. The ones with Tyler's hand-painted monogram? Indeed. Staley gets it.
Staley has cemented herself as a champ in many spaces, including college basketball, the WNBA, and the Olympics (she's a three-time gold medalist). Coach drip undoubtedly joins the list.
Staley is quite literally the coolest coach touching the college basketball courts, calling the shots from the sidelines while wrapped up in some unmistakable luxury branding.
One game day, Staley might go Gucci mode in the brand's glittery monogram sneaker and pullover jacket emblazoned with a sleek logo. Another day, we might catch Staley draped in some R13 threads (literally a distressed cardigan by the brand).
Staley's favorite label appears to be Louis Vuitton right now, judging by the numerous instances of her sporting the LV monogrammed jackets, sneakers, and extra-cozy tracksuits.
Pharrell's Louis Vuitton got the Staley approval, by the way (she co-signed the pixelated Damier print).
Staley's 'fits aren't 25/8 luxury. The South Carolina coach's drip also often includes affordable graphic tees showing love to women's sports (rap tees of her own players included).
When Staley does luxury, she doesn't take the quiet route. Indeed, Staley embraces the labels' statement pieces with open arms — which usually holding her game day plans.
In Louis Vuitton's fits, Staley not only proved that South Carolina is undefeated on the court this season, but her coach swag is also quite unbeatable.
With the off-season here, maybe we'll finally catch Staley in a luxury campaign or even securing a well-deserved deal. Someone get Pharrell on the phone.
