'Deadpool 3' Expected to Be R-Rated Under Disney
Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have shared details about the upcoming Deadpool movie, revealing that in their opinion, Deadpool 3 will still be rated R under Disney, following the company's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
"Absolutely, because I don't think it'll be under the Disney banner," Reese told Screen Rant. "Like, I don't think when you go to Deadpool 3, there's going to be a Magic Castle that appears. I think it's going to be under the Fox banner, so yes."
Reese and Wernick wrote the first two Deadpool movies, but have yet to be confirmed for the third. The film is, however, still in the early stages of development.
Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular character, previously revealed that he is in fact working with Marvel Studios on the new Deadpool movie. Deadpool 3 will be the first film in the franchise set up with Marvel Studios and not Fox. This has in turn led many to question if the picture will be rated R under Disney. Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, has already said that Disney would continue to make R-rated movies when it makes sense for the studio.
