Di'orr Greenwood's Nike Sneakers Are Saving Its Laces for Later
Di'orr Greenwood's Nike SB sneakers is arguably one of the most exciting Nike collaborations coming out of 2024. Why? The skateboarder, who also designs decks and teaches the sport, has transformed some of Nike's most famous models into sneakers like no other on the market. And this, my friends, is a wonderful thing.
It's always nice to see collaborators push the needle with their sneaker team-ups, introducing some surprising texture never seen on a particular shoe model or cool designs that tell a story. Di'orr Greenwood's Nike SB collab quite literally checks those boxes, especially her Blazer Mid sneakers.
I've never seen anything like Nike Blazers like Greenwood's pairs before. The collaborative sneaker ultimately goes faceless, thanks to a new lace-savers concept covering the laces.
What's even more intriguing about the new shrouded setup is the contents beneath it. When peeling back the boxy-edged flaps, Greenwood's Blazers opens up to reveal a new, more practical shoelace system equipped with woven eyelets.
As seen in earlier previews, Greenwood's Nike Blazer sneakers also boast smooth matte feels for the upper, joined by a spongey tongue. Finally, neat flower motifs and textural patterns blend into the stealthy background, subtly nodding to Greenwood's indigenous roots (she was born and raised in the Navajo Nation).
Greenwood's Nike Blazer may be stealthy in looks, but the sneaker's impeccable detailing undoubtedly still speaks for itself (and it says this is a unique and cool shoe).
Joining the Blazer Mid is Greenwood's Nike SB Dunk High sneaker, which was first revealed in October 2023. In crystal-clear official Nike flicks, we get the best views yet of the vibrantly colored sneaker and its celestial details, desert landscapes, and extra-colorful tongues — characteristics representative of Greenwood's Navajo heritage.
Greenwood herself yet to tease or even confirm her class-act Nike SB sneakers (she's had her hands full with reworking vintage Gucci boots and dishing out new skate decks). But some sources say Greenwood's collaborative shoes will hit skate shops during the summer.
If rumors are correct, I can't think of a better time for faceless Blazers and colorful Dunks.
