The IFPI, the worldwide representative of the recording industry, has just announced its official list of 2018's bestselling music artists. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the success of his last album, ScorpionDrake has bagged the top spot. He sits atop the top 10 ahead of the likes of Post Malone, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga.

Drake is the first artist ever to top the IFPI's list more than once, with his first crown arriving in 2016. Scorpion, which dropped in June 2018, elevated the Canadian star back to the top on the back of breaking numerous records, including first album to reach one billion streams worldwide.

“Drake has had an incredible, record-breaking year, one that is more than worthy of the title of Global Recording Artist of the Year,” IFPI chief executive Frances Moore said. “That Drake has won this award for the second time is testament to his continued global appeal and his ability to engage and connect with fans.”
