E3 2019: Square Enix Unveils 'Marvel's Avengers' & 'Final Fantasy VII' Remake
Following a disappointing conference last year, Square Enix had a lot of pressure going into there E3 2019 conference, but luckily they surpassed expectations. In an hour long conference, the Japanese game company delivered exciting announcements and gameplay reveals that had fans cheering from start to finish.
There can't be a Square conference without a mention of a Final Fantasy game, and there were plenty! Final Fantasy VII Remake received an exciting gameplay and cinematic trailer alongside a release date. Additionally, Final Fantasy VIII is finally getting a remake, while the franchise’s music becoming available on streaming platforms. Also, Final Fantasy XIV's get's a third expansion pack, Shadowbringers.
The long-awaited Marvel's Avengers game by Crystal Dynamics was also finally revealed with a trailer and release date to get fans excited. For new IPs, Square revealed the mysterious Outriders game.

New 'Final Fantasy VII' Remake Gameplay Shown
To kick off the the conference, Square opens with a bang unveiling more details for the very hyped remake of Final Fantasy VII. The company reveals that the game will feature "two BluRay discs worth of gameplay content" including the first episode focusing on Midgar. According to producer Yoshinori Kitase, Midgar section will be the size of a standalone game.
Final Fantasy VII will be released March 3, 2020.
First Look at Marvel's Avengers Game
Marvel's Avengers from Crystal Dynamics has finally been revealed alongside a new trailer and release date. Launching May 15, 2020, the game will be an action-adventure game that supports up to four-players co-op online gameplay. Gamers will get to play as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, and possibly Ant-Man. More superheroes and area will be added to the game overtime for free. Before the release, an early beta is coming to PS4.
Square Enix Music on Streaming Services
Listen to all your favorite Square Enix music just got a whole lot easier. Announced during their press conference, SE has made all including Final Fantasy soundtracks on all streaming services including Apple Music and Spotify.
'Final Fantasy XIV Online' Gets Shadowbringers Expansion
Coming out July 2, Final Fantasy XIV's third expansion pack, Shadowbringers, gets a new trailer. The update will add two new jobs, two new playable races, and so much more that Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of the game, compares it to "a brand new standalone RPG."
Outriders Gets an Intense Debut Trailer
After being teased on Twitter, developer People Can Fly, the creators of Gears of War: Judgment and Bulletstorm announced Outriders, a co-op "dark modern shooter". Coming in 2020, the team shares a brief look at characters and wide array of weaponry.
Oninaki Gets a Release Date and New Trailer
Oninaki is an action RPG, created by Tokyo RPG Factory, who's given us classic-style JRPGs like I Am Setsunaand Lost Sphear. In the game, you play a character “whose duty is to usher lost souls into the next world.” The game will be out on the Switch, PS4, and Steam on August 22.
Final Fantast VIII Remastered Announced
In even more Final Fantasy new, an HD remaster of Final Fantasy VIII was announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. It's coming out later this year.
