Element Drops a Streetwear Capsule Featuring the Work of Keith Haring
Brand: Element
Season: Fall/Winter 2018
Key Pieces: With its playful Keith Haring print and staple street silhouettes, all the pieces in this capsule would be a strong addition to any streetwear aficionado's wardrobe. But, what really stands out in this drop is the range of fall-ready jackets including a reversible puffer jacket featuring Haring's print, a coach jacket with a semi-translucent finish that allows Haring's print beneath to shine through, and a staple varsity style featuring the Element Keith Haring logo badge.
Editor’s Notes: Skateboarding and street art have always been intrinsically linked—both are rooted in street culture, both harbor the same spirit of rebellion, and both skaters and street artists are subject to being chased off spots by angry cops. So the partnering of one of the world’s greatest street artists with skate brand Element on a collaboration that honors ‘80s New York skateboarding subcultures is a logical one.
The Element Keith Haring capsule—a partnership done in collaboration with Artestar, which represents high-profile artists, photographers, designers, and creatives—sees the artist’s work applied across a range of staple pieces including apparel, footwear, accessories, and even exclusive skate hardware including decks and wheels. Haring’s iconic cartoon-like characters form a design which is featured across the collection as an all-over print or as a highlight on more subtle garments. The color palette is centered around red, black, and white—linking back to Element’s core branding.
To launch the collection, Element called on team member and East Coast powerhouse Brandon Westgate and New York-based skater Briana King. Shot by Niki Waltl, the film captures the two skaters as they shred the streets of New York City donning the new collection.
Check out the video, above, and then head over to Element's online shop or your nearest skate and streetwear store to cop the new collection.
