In October 1902, Cadillac opened the garage to roll out its first vehicle: a two-seat horseless carriage powered by a single-cylinder engine. While it lacked the exuberant imagery and “pedal-to-the-floor” horsepower we’re used to seeing these days, the rudimentary ride represented the first mile on an over a century-long journey toward advancement. As one of the first four automotive brands established in the US, Cadillac is no stranger to pioneering innovation in its field, placing progress above all else.

Carrying that ambitious spirit across generations, the historic auto manufacturer ranks among the most heralded names in contemporary car culture. Still, the acclaim and accolades remain as valued markers along Cadillac’s road forward. Shifting its attention toward the looming EV emergence, the vehicular vanguard arrives at its next pit stop to unveil the 2026 Cadillac VISTIQ, another forward-thinking addition to its coveted catalog.

Taking a trip to America’s moto-motherland, Highsnobiety received a first look at the latest and greatest in electric enhancement coming out of Detroit. Reflecting sizeable strides made in the luxury EV space, the VISTIQ sees Cadillac further stake its claim in the discussion as other global industry players begin to transition away from gas-powered vehicles. With hopes of redefining the brand abroad and on its home soil, the monumental offering showcases an inventive intuition grounded by that tasteful spirit synonymous with Cadillac.

Even from just a glance, the new three-row SUV exudes a futuristic essence. Manufactured with flowing lines that stretch along its aerodynamic body, the VISTIQ’s distinctive design language packages the brand’s iconic aesthetics with the functionality expected from an electric vehicle. Around the front, the indelible shield logo is complimented by a “black crystal” grille framed on a laser-blade panel that lights up when the car powers on. This revamped approach continues to the rear, emphasizing a streamlined look and elevated feel. The split tail lights signal a fresh motif added to Cadillac’s budding EV portfolio. Defined by a continuous “waterline” at the tail that extends fluidly into the rear window, the sleek silhouette evokes a sense of elegance in motion, even at a standstill.

In conversation with Zhou Fang, Cadillac’s lead exterior designer, he tells Highsnobiety that each element was meticulously planned out and thoroughly considered, artfully communicating the brand’s new direction while naturally linking back to its heritage.

Stepping into the driver’s seat, the interior combines mid-century-inspired sensibilities with high-tech features. Outfitted with carbon fiber and aluminum accents, the cabin invites you to relax and take in every detail, from the premium finishes to the careful stitching across all three rows. Illuminated by a 126-color LED lighting system, the ambient experience offers a personalized touch for every driver, partnering practicality with luxury.

Beyond vanity, the environmental ride packs a serious punch when it comes to performance. Built with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system, the VISTIQ marries speed with the eco-conscious design Cadillac envisions for its future, flexing a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds in “Velocity Max” mode.

Straddling the line of appeal between luxury aficionados and the family-focused crowd, Cadillac’s latest arrival sets a new standard for the legacy car company. Tracing the timeline back to the brand’s early days, the debut of the VISTIQ feels eerily similar to that landmark moment back in the fall of the 20th century. The beginning of another exciting era in automotive tech has arrived.
