Double Tap to Zoom

While LA may be known for its free-spirited lifestyle, we’ve never seen it played out like this.

Nothing is quite as it seems in Fendi’s SS22 campaign featuring Evan Mock. Creating a bold escape from reality, the multitalented artist takes us around Los Angeles.

From an early morning party, to an afternoon business meeting, Mock's spontaneous movements mimic the heightened sense of playfulness that defines Fendi’s latest collection.

Kicking things off at The Line LA, the artist wakes up, hops in the bath and is ready for a wholesome morning…at the club? No matter the time of day, he’s fit for the occasion. Dawning one of the collection’s most distinguished pieces—an adapted print from the Fendi archives—Mock is sure to make a lasting impression.

In an illustrative map of Rome-turned-cartographic drawing of the city adorned with freehand FF logos, the reimagined print (dubbed Fendi Earth) becomes a unique aesthetic touchpoint and is incorporated into various pieces throughout the collection. These include a linen silk suit, jacquard denim, and plush crochet tees. Finishing his look off with a bucket hat and the iconic Peekaboo bag in lavender, Mock hits the dancefloor with friends underneath neon strobe lights.

By the end of the sequence, one might assume it's time for Mock to head out. Not quite. As if he wasn’t just partying with friends in a basement karaoke bar, he shows up to work, seemingly unfazed, ready for a business meeting. To dress the part, Mock switches into something a bit more business-casual.

In a matching pastel green suit with a cropped top underneath, Mock flaunts the collection’s more whimsical flair, demonstrated by monochromatic fits, warped tailoring, and an added functionality that features specially-made earpod compartments in its blazers.

After taking a few meetings, Mock skateboards out of the office and heads to the beach with the collection’s latest Peekaboo design in hand, which features an exaggerated front pocket ironically designed in dimensions fit for a ping pong paddle. Contentedly, he pops a squat in the sand and juices an orange, pulls out already-toasted bread from his Peekaboo, and has his breakfast? Dinner? A strange sequence for sure, but by this point in the storyline, we expect the unexpected.

At the beach, Mock showcases Fendi’s focus on knitwear this season, dawning a sweater that incorporates FF logos and sherbert-colored hues reminiscent of changing sky by the seaside.

In the campaigns’ final moments, the artist enjoys a (rare) meditative moment overlooking the ocean, and perhaps from the whiplash we’ve suffered from following him around for the last 24 (not sure!) hours, we can’t help to wonder: wait a minute, is it dusk or dawn? Was it all real? What's the fun in knowing, anyway. Check out the full campaign video below.
