For Fendi’s new Spring/Summer 2021 collection, Silvia Venturini Fendi was inspired by the time spent with generations of the Fendi family reunited at their home in Rome. This intimate setting served as a catalyst for quiet introspection, and the clothes in this collection are a reflection of that — typically formal silhouettes are softened and embroidered housecoats and flared tunics elevate the comforts of home.
Coat backs and shirt sleeves unbutton, granting an air of casual elegance. Lightweight fabrics like tulle and gazar are juxtaposed with floral print linens, conjuring images of embroidered bedding and tableware — both maternal souvenirs passed down from mother to child. Influenced by this Mediterranean lifestyle, we brought Fendi’s SS21 collection to life through a lookbook shot overlooking the ocean and contrasted by Brutalist architecture.

Playing with shadows and sunlight to complement the collection’s neutral tones, the location is the perfect focal point in recreating the magical feeling of Silvia’s home in Rome. Of course, no outfit is complete without a strong accessory game to back it up. For SS21, Fendi plays with construction and embellishment to “conceal and reveal.” Some of our favorite pieces include the cheeky lattice frame tote which is completely see-through and the Moonlight leather saddle bag.
