Casio has unveiled its second limited-edition G-Shock watch with NASA. The commemorative DW5600NASA21-1 model arrives at the 40th anniversary of the first space shuttle launch, on April 12th, 1981. The mission was dubbed the "boldest test flight in history."

The shuttle was humankind's first re-usable spacecraft and the first of 135 missions for the 30-year program. The orbiter would launch like a rocket and land like a plane. The two solid rocket boosters that helped push them into space would also be re-used, after being recovered in the ocean. Only the massive external fuel tank would burn up as it fell back to Earth. It was all known as the Space Transportation System.

"The commemorative DW5600 honors decades of space exploration and was designed for watch collectors and space enthusiasts in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the first space shuttle launch," Casio wrote on its website. The watch features a white dial that surrounds a digital display that reveals the OV-102 space shuttle when the EL backlight is illuminated. The watch also features a blacked-out case with a white band and the steel back features a commemorative engraving of the space shuttle.

The G-Shock digital watch has a white dial with a red NASA "worm" logotype and a stainless steel case back with an engraved silhouette of the space shuttle. The matching black and white watch strap is inscribed "STS-1" and "United States" and has the American flag printed on the band loop, evoking the markings on the shuttle orbiter.

The DW5600NASA21-1 is available for pre-orders for $140, gshock.com.
