There's a Little Louis Vuitton in Tyler, the Creator's SS24 GOLF Collection
Fresh off his Louis Vuitton collaboration, Tyler the Creator’s label Golf (formerly Golf Wang) released its Spring/Summer 2024 collection in early April and it is just as preppy and eclectic he is.
On the Golf Wang Instagram page, images of the collection trickled in the month's beginning, highlighting bomber jackets, faded denim harringtons, and hoodies galore.
The collection is really quite expansive, impressively so, offering everything from hockey-like jerseys and athletic shorts featuring the Golf Wang logo, to quilted vests, jackets, sweatshirts with cable knit overlays in bright primary hues.
And, presumably because Tyler has never met a collared shirt he didn’t like, Golf Wang’s spring 2024 collection features a handful of them in jaunty prints, ‘70s-esque polka dots, stripes, and people’s faces of all things. All the better to layer under a cardigan with a Renaissance-like portrait of hunting dogs (love that dog)
Launched in 2011, Golf Wang has evolved with Tyler the Creator’s career, which more and more seems to be oriented around design, rather than music (at least this year).
Earlier in 2024, Tyler collaborated with longtime friend Pharrell Williams for a Louis Vuitton collection, piggybacked on Pharrell’s own LV Spring/Summer 2024 looks.
He brought a little Golf to that collection as well, with preppy sweaters and a hand drawn Craggy Monogram. Because, when Tyler creates, he goes in.
You can see some of that Louis Vuitton luxury in Golf's new lineup, what with the sumptuous leather-sleeved varsity jackets and partially crocheted hoodies. It has clearly matured over time, like Tyler.
And, also like his LV collection, this Spring 2024 Golf Wang collection also includes skateboards, which seem to be the main draw for some of the label's longtime fans who're otherwise unimpressed with Golf's more fashion-forward approach.
But even they wouldn't deny that, though Tyler has his hand in seemingly twenty other projects at any given time (he also recently released a nail polish collab between his luxury line le Fleur and Pharrell’s Humanrace skincare brand), nothing bearing Tyler's name ever seems like an afterthought.
So, what’s next?
