The demand for rubber footwear in recent seasons is nothing short of an enigma, but the labels are listening. From utilitarian options like Merrell’s Hydro Moc and Crocs through to high-end iterations like Bottega Veneta’s Puddle Boots or Balenciaga’s Trooper Boots, there’s no escaping the prevalence of the one-piece, rubber build. The latest to join the party? Gucci.

Remember the rubber sandals you used to buckle up when you were four and wanted to splash around in water? Gucci just luxurified them. Actually, jelly shoes made a brief resurgence in womenswear in 2021, signaling an ardent return to ‘90s and ‘00s styling which has only grown in power since then. Now it’s time for the guys to have a go.

The Gucci rubber sandals feature a woven vamp attached to a full rubber sole unit complete with Gucci branding underfoot. An interlocking-G logo details the vamp, demarcating your jelly shoes as not just any jelly shoes. They’re Gucci, duh. Fastening with a tonal buckle to the ankle, there’s little (no) variation from the OG pairs you wore when you were a kid.

Built in semi-transparent rubber, the Gucci rubber sandals come in a range of colors. A fully transparent pair, all-black, or a bolder green iteration are the options, and if you’re asking us: go green. This pair is all about catching eyes, so go all the way.
