Toy Company Acquires Death Row Records As Part of a $4 Billion Deal
Toymaker, Hasbro has acquired Canadian studio Entertainment One, owners of Peppa Pig and PJ Masks and the Death Row Record's catalog.
According to Rolling Stone, eOne “spent around $280 million to buy the catalog of Death Row, which had previously been forced to declare bankruptcy in 2006.”
Deadline reports the $4 Billion cash deal is set to earn the two companies about $130 million in cost synergies by 2022. In a statement, Hasbro's CEO announced that "the acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling."
It's unclear how Deathrow's projects, including major releases from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac will fit into this “family-oriented storytelling.”
