Comfort is EVERYTHING! Whether you're heading to the beach or actually killing it with a look comfort and confidence go hand and hand. My inspiration [for my custom flip flops] was my escape with creativity. I put my name over a body of water to represent keeping my head above water, which I feel in some way creativity does for me. DIY projects are a good meditative escape from the craziness lately.

Here in Brazil, there is a culture of customizing Havaianas, especially among women, with various rhinestones and beads on the straps, they use a lot in weddings too, I was inspired by them. I customized mine with wool yarn, made a base with yarn to make it very fluffy, and then put a shag over it to be very soft.

At first, and probably like many people, we only know Havaianas as a flip flop brand and that is it, but they have everything we need in "summer" (for this part of the world) and they are very creative. They know how to play. So just wear them as you want, don’t be too complicated, be comfy.

I customized with pens for the material and took advantage of the yellow color of the Havaianas, which is a warm color, to inspire me in the drawing of the fire + my name written as a bomb with the orange color.

To me, Havaianas represents a great mix between cozy and casual. They are perfect for a sunny environment and give me a feeling of positive energy, brightness, and comfort. For styling them, I try to find something personal and easy to put on. Since they are flip flops I try to keep the outfit minimal. To customize this pair, I chose to work on a light blue/turquoise slipper because it gave me a zen feeling. I then created a print with the letter H for Havaianas. At first, I thought of a leopard print/color scheme; because it’s an animal from a hot area. I used the colors red and yellow as a reminder of the sun. I wanted to keep the colors bright on the flip flop to keep the feeling of summer alive. I then added my signature to it and voila!

I've worn Havaianas since I was a kid, they were the IT shoe in California; my first pair were navy with white hibiscus flowers. To me, Havaianas captures the feeling of never-ending summer, and the brand reflects a blissful and easygoing lifestyle. I decided to customize Havaianas with a bunch of fruit, something that always brightens my mood and instantly brings up summery feelings. Grapes, citrus (orange), and stonefruit (cherries) are some of my absolute favorites.
