HBO Just Announced the Cast for 'Game of Thrones' Prequel
Amid the hype for the final season of Game of Thrones, you might have forgotten that a prequel is on its way. Well, it is, and HBO has just announced the show's cast list and first director, Collider reports.
Naomi Watts and Poldark's Josh Whitehouse are set to star, alongside Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald alum Jamie Campbell Bower and Toby Regbo. Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Ivanno Jeremiah (Black Mirror), Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Episode IX), Denise Gough (Angels in America at the National Theatre, London), Sheila Atim (Harlots), and Alex Sharp (To the Bone) also appear.
Director S.J. Clarkson, who had been set to helm the now rumored-to-be-abandoned fourth film in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, has been tapped to shoot the pilot.
The prequel series takes place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, way before Ned Stark lost his head and all of Westeros went to war. Expect a dive into the origins of the White Walkers, more from the East, and old stories about the Starks.
Filming is set to begin early this year.
