Hector Bellerin's Favorite New Boots Are Blundstones for Ballers
Who: Hector Bellerin
The outfit he’s wearing: Houndstooth coat (no ID), jeans (no ID), Prada Brixxen boot.
Location: Emirates Stadium, London
Why it works: A nicely cut pair of drapey blue jeans and black boots is always a winner. If only more footballers went for this look instead of Amiri calf huggers!
Editor’s Notes: There's an argument to be made that Blundstones are the best bang-for-buck boot on the planet right now, and have been for a long time. But when you're an English Premier League footballer likely earning upwards of $100,000 per week, money doesn't really inform your purchasing decisions.
Luxury is what Prada does best, a case in point being the Brixxen boot worn by Arsenal and Spain defender Hector Bellerin in the image above. The Brixxen is basically the Italian house's God-level take on the humble Blunnie. The silhouette is much the same, but giving the boot an extra bit of grandeur is the neoprene cuff that comes optioned with a lick of neon orange or blue. For those in the know, it's the ultimate subtle flex.
Of course, unlike the source inspiration, these $750 calfskin babies aren't for hiking or manual labor. (I mean, you could, but why would you want to?) Rather, they're a dressy option that will add a touch of class to any outfit. See how Frank Ocean wore a similar pair to the Met Gala earlier this week.
Bellerin has always been in a league of his own when it comes to off-pitch style. But now he seems to be really finding his groove, favoring subtle flourishes where he'd previously go for all-out bombast. In 2019, wearing clout goggles could be read as a little goofy, but here, they add a touch of flamboyance to what is, all things considered, a pretty conservative ’fit. It's a nice mix, and for luxury footwear aficionados, the Brixxens are the cherry on top.
