Helmut Lang
1 / 28

Helmut Lang recently challenged its some 600,000 Instagram followers to design a limited edition T-shirt for a special contest. Following an open call for design submissions, the New York brand has narrowed down the final shortlist to 14 entrants from cities including Berlin, Atlanta, Melbourne, Lisbon, and Barcelona.

The next stage of the competition will see Helmut Lang’s audience decide which designs go into production. The rules state that each T-shirt must feature an original drawing, graphic, or image, and must not reference any archival Helmut Lang imagery in any way, nor feature any imagery of real people. The brand will allocate three winners on account of the amount of likes each image receives, and the winning artists will be compensated with a $1,000 gift card to shop on Helmut Lang’s website.
