HOKA’s Chunky, Do-It-All Sneaker Is Now... Extra Chunky
HOKA’s line of Bondi sneakers, a range of cushioned road shoes spanning from professional-level running shoes to lifestyle models, is growing — in more ways than one.
The Bondi family is expanding with the introduction of the all-new Bondi 9 and the sneaker is literally growing: its already ultra-chunky sole unit has gotten even chunkier.
The model has gone from being hefty to near mammoth-sized.
Newly unveiled in a HOKA showcase presenting its latest innovations for the new season, the Bondi 9’s imposing new shape is, according to the brand, going to elevate its performance. It certainly doesn’t affect the weight, with this shoe in a size US men’s 10 being almost an ounce lighter than its predecessor.
The max cushioned midsole adds exactly two millimeters of extra height to the shoe and includes super critical foam — a cutting-edge, lightweight, and bouncy material.
There is also a retooled, 3D-molded collar and a knit upper for a more accommodating fit.
All-in-all, the Bondi 9 comes with a series of updates your feet will thank you for after racking up miles in them. That’s what the shoe is truly meant to do, aid in daily road running training, however, it’s not always what it’s utilized for.
If this shoe goes the same way as the Bondi 8, the sneaker will soon be offered in gorgeous colorways abetting in its crossover to anyone looking for ultra-comfy shoes, including style-oriented audiences who have, for some time, been tuned in to all things chunky coming from HOKA.
Anyway, you’ll have to wait until next year for that: in January 2025, the newly chunked-up sneaker will make its way to the shop floors of running stores and fashionable boutiques alike.
