HOKA's Been Getting Busy With GORE-TEX
Since it was founded in 2009, HOKA's goal has been to create highly functional (and fast) footwear, so covering its popular models in the foremost waterproof technology just makes sense. And that's exactly what the brand has done, releasing a heap of new GORE-TEX sneakers for the SS23 season.
Just arrived at the Highsnobiety Shop, the brand's ultra-comfy, everyday Clifton L model, as well as three highly-durable hiking sneakers, the Kaha 2, Tor Ultra Hi, and Anacapa Low, all released with GORE-TEX membranes to ensure bone-dry outdoor exploration.
With the latter three models including Vibram mega grip soles and a heap of the brand's latest tech (there'll be more on that later), the release marks HOKA continuing to flex its muscles to gorpcore footwear enthusiasts.

Having started life with the aim of creating faster footwear to run downhill in, outdoor-specific releases such as the Mafate Speed 2 or U Mafate OG have caught our eye for more than just the stability they provide on tricky trail surfaces. No matter how much the brand is laser-focused on functionality, it continues to infiltrate fashion.
“We've always focused on creating shoes that are functional and comfortable — two things that cater both runners and those looking for a day-to-day shoe," Travis Wiseman, HOKA’s Director of Lifestyle Product, told us in a recent interview, going on to say: "We aren’t building products for the likes of Bella Hadid, but if they’re wearing them anyway we aren’t going to complain."
Its latest drop doubles down on the practical details, not only by creating waterproof shoes but also with features such as an Active Foot Frame, a HUBBLE heel with SwallowTail geometry, and, of course, its signature meta-rocker technology used across its range of trail-ready models.
And it delivers all of this tech while furthering its commitment to creating responsible footwear through recycled fabrics, PFC-free water repellency treatment, and leather certified by the Leather Working Group.
HOKA has long been one of the niche footwear labels disrupting the big fish, and it's even established itself in the resale market with a huge 713% growth in trade on StockX last year. With more hiking-oriented models on the horizon for this season, we can only expect that number to keep on growing.
