Staying in This Holiday? Here’s How To Treat Yourself
Amid continuing efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19, many are staying in to celebrate the holidays this year. Whether that means gathering in small groups or doing them solo, we see this as a time to both be safe and treat yourself.
If, like us, this year has raised your anxiety and stress levels, you’re in need of rejuvenation. So, while indoors, why not use this time to invest in, well, you and indulge in some much-needed self-care?
With that in mind, we’ve rounded up a selection of pick-me-ups that will help you enjoy the holidays, no matter how you celebrate.
Launched just a few months ago, this fragrance by Maison Francis Kurkdjian has quickly become one of our favorites. It’s one of those rare scents that successfully uses rose in a gender-neutral way. Formulated with grapefruit accord, Damask rose from Bulgaria, and sage from France, it’s a wonderful, luxurious scent to spritz yourself with over the holidays – and the act of using fragrance on the daily is a great mood elevator.
For all the Aesop fans, you can now scent your home with its recently-launched line of candles. We’ve been using Callippus, which uses vetiver, frankincense, and shiso as its main ingredients. The woody fragrance is a great way to create those cozy vibes. And, much like Aesop’s other products, the candle’s casing looks like a lovely decorative object.
Something we’ve been experimenting with while working from home is layering candle scents. Snobs, take note. Simultaneously lighting Diptyque’s Coriander candle and its Tuberose candle creates a new scent, like an Indian spice market. Try layering your candles this holiday season to come up with your own unique scent.
Whether you’re celebrating in small groups or virtually, choose a beverage that’s meant to be savored. Our drink of choice is Tequila Avión's Reserva 44, a highly-sought-after, premium tequila with agave grown at the highest elevations. It boasts extra añejo and expertly complex flavors that’s a treat for your discerning palate.
Skincare soared this year with the increased amount of time we’ve spent indoors, and we’re not mad about it. One of our favorite products this year is skinbetter Science’s Alto Defense Serum. It not only helps to protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals, it does an incredible job of evening out skin tone and reducing dark spots and redness.
Do yourself a solid and catch up on some much-needed sleep this holiday season. And while you’re at it, upgrade your bed linens. This silk pillowcase is super soft and is great for protecting your hair and skin.
