And the Oscar Goes To...Lady Gaga in 'House of Gucci'
Ridley Scott's House of Gucci hasn't premiered yet, but one thing is certain: Lady Gaga will go down in cinematic history for her portrayal of Patrizia Reggiani, the power-hungry wife of Maurizio Gucci (played by a very suave-looking Adam Driver).
A second trailer for the film just released, and it's almost more iconic than the first.
Adding to the one-liners Gaga so flawlessly delivered in the first trailer ("Father, son, house of Gucci" and "I don't consider myself a particularly ethical person, but I am fair"), the new clip is full of quote-ables.
Responding to Patrizia's complaints about the direction of Gucci, Maurizio retorts, "At least it's my name, sweetie." In a truly butchered Italian accent, our heroine quips: "Our name. Sweetie," motioning to her wedding ring.
True!
Other notable Patrizia quotes: "It's time to take out the trash" (sorry, Maurizio), and "I subscribe to unconventional punishments."
The trailer also offers new glimpses of an unrecognizable Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, and Salma Hayek as Patrizia's clairvoyant friend, Pina Auriemma.
A stacked cast, indeed.
In case you need a refresher: the film depicts the events leading up to the assassination of Maurizio Gucci, orchestrated by his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani.
Based on Sara Gay Forden’s novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, the movie chronicles the downfall of the Gucci family empire and the circumstances that ultimately result in an 18-year prison sentence Patrizia.
House of Gucci hits cinemas on November 24. In the meantime, I eagerly await Lady Gaga's Oscar nomination.
