Meta is allegedly making its version of Twitter called Threads.

So, Threads is essentially a text-focused extension of Instagram. Basically, Instagram's comment section but as a social media platform.

On July 1, Instagram's Threads leaked online, briefly landing on Google Play before being removed entirely. However, folks grabbed a few screenshots of Instagram's newest app and the features it has to offer (potentially).

Per screen grabs, users can access Threads with their current Instagram log-in. If you don't have an Instagram, we're assuming you can just make an account and go from there.

Once in, threaders can follow the same people from their Instagram account (assuming it pulls the data from your current IG). And then, let the tweeting — or wait, threading? — begin.

Like Twitter, Threads allows you to type your thoughts, feelings, or mood and post them. Once live, it looks like other threaders will be able to interact with the post by liking, replying, erm, "re-threading," and sharing the post.

True to an app by IG, Threads will also allow users to post pics, per the screenshots.

Ironically, Meta's post-and-delete with Threads happened on the same day as Twitter's app-wide chaos, where rate limits caused app hiccups from users.

A couple of hours after the issue persisted, Elon Musk then announced that Twitter was working on temporary view limits. The Musk curse lives.

Interestingly, murmurs of Instagram Threads have been swirling for a while now. Twitter's evil twin may have even prompted the upcoming fight between Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and former Twitter CEO (now executive chair) Elon Musk.

Thank you, Threads.
