Considering it’s been around for just shy of 150 years, not many are conscious of the high-end denim that Jacob Cohën does so well. The brand offers top-notch jeans handcrafted by Italian pros in the denim valley of Veneto.

The first set of Jacob Cohën jeans were released back in 1985. It was the blossoming era for denim. From laborers rocking full-on utilitarian attire to hippies, rock stars, and rappers—denim became everybody’s wardrobe staple. Even with this in mind, the brand stayed pretty low-key in and amongst the denim scene, and with good reason. It has long been focused on the finest of Italian craftsmanship — and now, under the helm of Jennifer Tommasi Bardelle, it is ready to take us backstage for its upcoming collection. What really sets Jacob Cohën’s pieces apart are the finishing touches, like spicing up their shirts with patterned pockets and giving their jeans a sleek denim-on-denim color effect on the back pockets.

“I created my first jeans because I wanted them to be comfortable, but at the same time luxurious and eclectic, suitable for even formal moments.” - Nicola Bardelle

The Jacob Cohën motto is pretty straightforward: “Go to bed with a dream, wake up with a purpose.” Celebrated for its high-end handmade tailored jeans, the brand achieved luxury status thanks to its unique artisan techniques. Jacob Cohën follows the basics: the classic five pockets, cropped denim, and truckers. Then it adds a good portion of opulence with jewel buttons, iconic patches and tailored finishes. In the end, we get a complete contemporary look, ready for pretty much any occasion. If we talk numbers, it takes around 100 hours and 10 consecutive steps to create ‘Made in Italy’ jeans — so it bears that special label for a reason.

With the precision needed to cut through 50 layers of denim, there’s definitely no room for mistakes. The brand has branched out into men’s tailoring and women’s couture and now further expanded into fragrances, kid’s clothing, and footwear collections. Even though it secured itself as a backbone of the brand, jeans aren’t the only Jacob Cohën creations in the spotlight. High-neck sweaters styled with suede jackets are also a hit, while  trucker jackets and overshirts also take center stage.
