Following Roc Nation's NFL partnership announcement last week, a rumor began to circulate that JAY-Z was gearing up to become a part-owner of an NFL team. He's not. According to CBS Sports, "there are no plans in place for the rap legend to become an NFL owner."

The controversial rumor broke earlier this week and sent internet into a frenzy amid an atmosphere already charged over the deal. The rumor ultimately wove into the controversy over Colin Kaepernick's dismissal from the league, with celebrities and fans alike stating that JAY-Z's apparent "entertainment and social justice partnership" undermined previous "take a knee" protests against racial inequality and police brutality.

Now the NFL is dispelling these false claims. CBS' reports states that various sources “directly tied to the deal” have been “scurrying to try to figure out who put the flawed info out there.” "Those kinds of deals don't exist in the NFL," one source explains, "There is no ownership component to this arrangement."
