Nicki Minaj's Brother Gets 25 Years for Sexually Assaulting His 11 Year Old Stepdaughter
Nicki Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for predatory sexual assault against a child, Pitchfork reports. He has also been given 364 days in prison for endangering child welfare. The news first broke via TMZ yesterday but new details have emerged.
Maraj was found guilty of these crimes back in 2017. He was first charged in April 2016, standing accused of repeatedly raping his stepdaughter from the age of 11. At the time, his attorney, David M. Schwartz claimed that these allegations were false and part of the child's mothers "$25 million extortion scheme."
Speaking to Pitchfork, Schwartz now says they will be appealing this "excessive sentence" on the grounds of "clear juror miscount among other issues."
