Nike’s Beautifully Simple Terrace-Meets-Skate Sneaker Readies a Killshot
Nike's Field General 82 sneaker is taking a page from the Nike Killshot's book.
Now, we've long since established that Nike's Field General shoe is a visual synthesis of a Nike Dunk and an adidas Gazelle, essentially a combo of the most classic and flattest shoes on the market.
So it's definitely on-brand to see this heavily influenced Nike sneaker wrapped in a Killshot-esque colorway. This sneaker pulls understated inspiration from every angle and wears it well.
The Killshot, AKA the king of rom-com sneakers, famously wears a "Black/Sail-Gum Yellow," colorway that looks a lot like this iteration of the Nike Field General.
However, unlike the Killshot, this Nike Field General is a suede-free marvel. It instead boasts a complete leather upper in line with some of its fellow Field General comrades.
But it still has that gummy brown sole, which adds some rustic contrast to the otherwise plain jane terrace-like sneaker. It's a little football and a little skate.
Nike's Field General sneaker originally released in 1982 and re-released in February 2024, so it hasn't been out long enough to really compete with some of its contemporaries like the Dunk or the Gazelle, but it's made some major strides in notoriety recently.
In fact, COMME des GARÇONS will be offering its own innovative Nike Field General 82 sneaker collaboration.
Now, putting it lightly, COMME des GARÇONS collabs are known to churn out some attention-grabbing sneakers, like the world's busiest Salomon sneaker.
And Nike has already displayed some major collaborative genius with COMME des GARÇONS', like that souped-up Air Max.
So it's not so much that the Nike Field General is purposefully copying its predecessors. It's just a super fly student of the game.
