Kanye West to Headline 'Awaken 2020' With Prominent Anti-LGBTQ Crusaders
Kanye West is taking his gospel choir to new evangelical heights, NY Daily News reports. He's set to headline a 10-hour-long prayer rally in Arizona called Awaken 2020 alongside a high-profile line-up of anti-LGBTQ crusaders.
Kanye's new "spiritual" agenda is reportedly set to land him beside people like Ché Ahn, who once said that LGBTQ equality isn't a civil rights issue, and Guillermo Maldonado, who feels homosexuality "invites unclean spirits into our lives." Perhaps this isn't surprising, though, considering Ye is BFFs with everyone's favorite megachurch megalomaniac, Joel Osteen.
Awaken 2020 is set to take place this weekend on Saturday, January 18 and is billed as the “first epic evangelical stadium event of the decade.” It'll take place at the Sun Devil Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.
“It’s time for you to be part of the Jesus awakening that is shifting HISTORY,” the promo website reads. “Open the door and enter into a new era, a new decade, of revival that is bringing a movement of signs and wonders, healing of the sick, and preaching of the gospel.”
