Kanye West's 'DONDA' Unsurprisingly Gets Delayed
UPDATE: Following Kanye's highly anticipated listening party that took place on Thursday in Atlanta, the rapper's album seems to have been delayed. The previous launch date was revealed in Yeezy's Beats by Dre spot earlier in the week, and was set for July 23. Now, Justin Laboy has (once again) taken to Twitter to announce that the new date will be August 6.
"HE WANTS TO GIVE HIS FANS THE BEST POSSIBLE PRODUCT WITHOUT RUSHING ANYTHING. HE LOVES YALL WITH ALL OF HIS HEART," Laboy Tweeted, with fans already responding that the delay is unsurprising, coming from Kanye. For supporters of the rapper, this is part of the fandom.
It remains to be seen whether DONDA will drop anytime soon, but keep tuning in as any further information appears.
ORIGINAL STORY: It seems like new music from Kanye West is right around the corner, according to leaked screenshots and Tweets from people close to the rapper.
Kanye is notorious for teasing and promising albums that never end up getting released, most memorably the highly anticipated YANDHI. The new project is dubbed DONDA, an homage to the rapper's mother, and is being revealed through an invite-only listening party that requires prior registration.
Justin Laboy and Kevin Durant have already listened to the album, and Laboy took to Twitter to share high praises, saying "The production is light years ahead of its time, and the bars sound like he’s broke and hungry trying to get signed again." He also alluded to a release date "this week," but no official date has been confirmed. Kanye played his new album for me & @KDTrey5 last night in Vegas. Man listen! The production is light years ahead of it’s time, and the bars sound like he’s broke & hungry trying to get signed again. Any artist who plan on dropping soon should just push it back 😤 #Respectfully — Respectfully Justin (@JustinLaboy) July 18, 2021
DONDA reportedly features names including Tyler, The Creator, Lil Baby, Travis Scott and more, and footage of Tyler and Kanye in the studio has also surfaced, showing a whiteboard with what could be the full tracklist. Producer Teddy Walton also took to Twitter to share a few words about the album, writing, “Honestly can’t wait til @kanyewest drop and I’m glad to be apart [sic] of history."

The release party will be taking place in the desert, with fans already queuing outside the venue. The event will be taking place between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., possibly meaning that we're in for a shorter album.
Stay tuned as any more information surrounding the DONDA release surfaces, because as we all know, only Kanye himself really decides when it is time to release new music. Honestly can’t wait till @kanyewest drop. & im glad to be apart of history 💿🐻💿🐻 see y’all soon. — TEDDY WALTON (@teddywalton) July 19, 2021
