Ronnie Fieg Rebuilt the BMW M1 Into a Certified Kith Classic
Third time's the charm? For Kith and BMW, the third ride is certainly the charm. Incredibly stylish, too.
For Kith and BMW's latest collaboration, Ronnie Fieg has designed a custom version of the 1981 BMW M1 E26, BMW M's first-ever model.
Fieg and BMW remade the OG ride, sourcing the original materials and fixings from BMW's archival collections. Kith's BMW M1 maintains its iconic performance features, down to the 165 mph speed that made it the fastest German road sports car at the time.
Of course, Kith just made the iconic model extra stylish. The sleek exterior gets painted in a delicious Techno Violet, one of BMW's ultra-rare, premium colorways. Luxurious monogram patterns completely drip out the interior, covering just about everything, from the creamy Merino leather seats to floor mats. Nice.
Kith and BMW unveiled their first collaboration together in 2020, resulting in a Kith'd-out BMW M4 that sold out in in the blink of an eye. Reports say the 150 models created for the drop were snatched up under an hour!
The friendship has only continued to blossom with more releases, including BMW clothing collections co-signed by award-winning actor Ed Norton and a stunning green Kith x BMW i4 M50, the BMW M's first fully electric model.
Again, Kith's BMW M1 is purely a concept model, meaning it's one-of-a-kind, a.k.a. not available for purchase. However, for car enthusiasts who must feast their eyes on this beautiful ride, Kith's 1981 BMW M1 E26 will be on display at Kith and BMW's showcase on December 6 in Miami as part of the Art Basel festivities.
As a little souvenir, Kith will drop a 1:18 diecast miniature car version of the BMW M1 at the showcase. It's just a little gift for the road — that's if you can catch the mini ride before it sells out with speed.
