KITH & Team USA Are The True Dream Team
In celebration of the upcoming Olympic Games, KITH and USA Basketball have teamed up to create a collection of retro-inspired apparel and accessories that capture the golden aura of Team USA Basketball's legendary Olympic victories.
Ronnie Fieg, KITH's founder and creative director for the New York Knicks, was made an official partner with Team USA for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and now he is coming back by designing the Team USA Basketball 2024 collection.
Drawing inspiration from the legendary 1992 and 1996 Dream Teams that won Olympic gold in Barcelona and Atlanta respectively, in this collection KITH's signature streetwear style blends effortlessly with the white, blue, and red aesthetic of Team USA.
The collection includes jackets, crewnecks, hoodies, vintage-washed tees, sweatpants, and shorts, all adorned with collaborative KITH for USA Basketball artwork and logos.
The standout piece of the collaboration is the leather jacket, which is crafted from premium Italian Nappa leather, and has a retro-inspired patchwork design in American colors. Other highlight items are definitely the graphic tees that pay a nostalgic homage to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Rounding out the lineup, the collection is complemented by fitted and adjustable caps made in partnership with New Era.
There is (unfortunately) no footwear in this collection, however, it’s hardly like we’ve been starved for Olympic-themed Nike sneakers of late.
To mark the launch of the collaboration, KITH has transformed the historic Hotel George V courtyard in Paris into a custom basketball court. This luxe hotel, near the iconic Avenue des Champs-Élysées, now features a court with USA Basketball, Kith, and Hotel George V branding in red, white, and blue hues.
It’s a blockbuster marketing move from KITH and a major step up from its previous collaboration for the Tokyo Olympics.
KITH's history of successful basketball-related collaborations makes it the perfect partner for Team USA Basketball. Over the years, KITH has teamed up with some of the biggest names in basketball, including a notable 2017 collaboration with Nike centered around LeBron James' line. The "Long Live the King" collection featured unique designs of the Nike LeBron 15, showcasing KITH's ability to blend streetwear aesthetics with performance footwear, especially basketball shoes.
On top of that, in the past couple years alone, KITH has partnered with HBO, Vogue and the Knicks, which doesn't even touch on founder Ronnie Fieg's never-ending sneaker rollout.
The KITH for Team USA Basketball Collection officially releases on July 22, 2024, and will be available through KITH online and in-store.
