Under the Radar: KUSIKOHC Is a Creative Force to Be Reckoned With
Our Under the Radar series is made in collaboration with SSENSE. Each month, we shine the light on a new, burgeoning talent that you can shop at the retailer. Encompassing all sides of the contemporary style spectrum, this series acts as a measure of where luxury fashion is headed in the coming years.
We're excited to kick off our new Under the Radar series with the help of SSENSE, and how better to do so than with KUSIKOHC? Born in South Korea, the brand is the brainchild of polymath creative force Cho Gi-Seok. Gi-Seok's work extends from photography, sculpting, and drawing to creative direction and product design.
The label is rooted in values of community, identity, and reinvention, with one overarching message: “Right to Fail.” In his own words, “I believe that challenge and endeavour themselves have the power to change at least small parts of something, even if they get failed. Therefore, we have the Right to Fail.”
Overseeing everything from clothing and art direction to the photography of its lookbooks, KUSIKOHC is a true embodiment of Cho Gi-Seok's vision. Plus, already counting collaborations with Prada and Converse among its achievements, it's clear that Gi-Seok's vision is being understood and platformed.

Silver Chain Earrings
Jewelry quality is a good litmus test of how serious a young label is. Often the jewelry feels like an afterthought but not here.
Bomber Jacket
Gi-Seok's label revolves around a simple base of neutral and understated colors. Building on this simple foundation, the designer looks to texture and embroidery for visual character.
Origami Blazer
Delicate cuts bring unique personality to this classic black blazer. Offering a view underneath, they break up the shape of the traditional garment.
Wool Vest
A map graphic acts as the highlight of this virgin wool vest but look out for careful details like the gap in the collar.
Paneled T-Shirt
Cut from stretch material, this skin-tight tee is given structure by a number of stitched panels for comfort as well as a sense of technical style.
Nylon T-Shirt
Layering is a big part of the brand's styling, going hand in hand with the understated color palettes. Pieces like this lightweight, semi-sheer long-sleeve top facilitate the layered finish.
Cotton Shirt
Even with a simple white shirt as the base item, Gi-Seok is able to create something to remember. Bunched stitching along the button placket results in an eye-catching silhouette as well as a play on texture.
Taffeta Trousers
This pair of neutral trousers serves up technical style with a refined edge. White panels stand out against a beige backdrop to give detail without going over the top.
Embroidered Trousers
One of the really notable qualities of the label is its ability to reshape current trends into something unique. Technical style plays a big role in the collections, as does workwear. This pair of embroidered trousers is cut from heavyweight cotton twill and features a signature pattern embroidered throughout.
Panel Jeans
Staple items made extraordinary — that's the modus operandi for KUSIKOHC.
