Kylian Mbappé is the global cover star for EA Sports’ FIFA 21. This was announced by both the player and the video game series on social media yesterday and shouldn’t have come as a surprise to any football fan, seeing as the 21-year old Frenchman is both one of the best players and one of the most marketable players in world football.

With the announcement, Mbappé joins the illustrious ranks of former FIFA cover stars, which includes Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, and Marco Reus.

This year, EA Sports has taken the aesthetic in a new direction, opting for a collage-style look on both the standard edition and the champions edition. Both feature a patchwork of Mbappe on the pitch and off of it, a clear nod to the star’s pop culture marketability. The ultimate edition takes a completely different direction, looking more like a mixtape than the cover of a sports video game. Mbappé is pictured in black and white wearing a casual outfit on a grey background (above).
