Kyrie Irving in Kapital is the Real MVP
Kyrie Irving isn’t feeling interviews right now (earlier this week the NBA fined the Brooklyn Nets star $35,000 for “violation of media access rules”), but he’s still making statements via his off-court looks. Irving was snapped outside of his hotel in Milwaukee yesterday wearing a fit very much worth listening to.
The one-time NBA champion combined a pair of khaki Kapital denim pants — the fit’s standout piece — with a black sweater from the just-dropped Concepts x Kyrie collection, as well as a pair of Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Lows.
The Kapital denim pants are part of the Japanese label’s KOUNTRY line and feature appliquéd bones on each side, a signature motif of the Kapital universe. The khaki bottoms go very well with the “Cactus Jack” SB Dunk Lows, which feature a similar shade of beige on the upper’s leather base, as well as on the laces.
Not content with just one footwear option, Irving is seen carrying what looks like a pair of unreleased Nike Kyrie 7s (possibly an alternate colorway to today’s CONCEPTS x Nike Kyrie 7 collection). The sweater is inspired by Egyptian archeology, ritual, and symbol, which serve as the theme for the entire collection.
The wooden object Kyrie is holding, is said to be connected to his mother’s ancestry and the Lakota Native American people, part of the Sioux family.
Appearing to address the NBA's media access fine on his IG story, Kyrie said: “I pray we utilize the fine money for the marginalized communities in need, especially seeing where our world is presently. Here for peace, love, and greatness. So stop distracting me and my team, and appreciate the Art. We move different over here.”
It’s certainly hard not to move differently when you’re wearing Kapital KOUNTRY. Irving is currently playing a good season and a big reason why the Brooklyn Nets are second in the East, albeit on a four-game losing streak. Even if he doesn’t win regular-season MVP, fits like this one make it hard to ignore the star off the court.
