Fellow football fans, here's a bit of trivia for you: Which international jersey inspired the ASICS x Lack of Guidance GEL-QUANTUM 360 VIII sneakers?

Any guesses?

Give up? Okay, here's the answer: Japan's 1998 home goalkeeper jersey.

One of ASICS' most iconic football kits, worn by Japan for its debut at the World Cup Finals, the kit in question is covered in huge red and yellow flames against a black base.

If you think today's fashionable football jerseys are wild, they have nothing on the gaudy prints of late-'90s classics.

Amsterdam-based, football-inspired fashion label Lack of Guidance has reinterpreted that flame-covered design into a fiery orange colorway covering ASICS' techy GEL-QUANTUM™ 360 VIII sneaker.

Founded in 2016, Lack of Guidance has released many collaborations in the past (teaming up with music festivals, football teams, and iconic sportswear labels). However, this release with ASICS is its first-ever pair of sneakers.

Lack of Guidance doesn't only make brilliant, football-inspired streetwear anymore; it's now making sneakers, too.

This bold debut sneaker launches on January 31 exclusively through the Lack of Guidance online store and its Amsterdam flagship store. After that, on February 7, the sneakers arrive at select retailers worldwide.

This will, undoubtedly, just be the beginning of Lack of Guidance's sneaker journey. Could we see the brand explore ASICS' football boot heritage next?
