LEGO's high-spec Technic comes in clutch for car lovers lacking bloated bank accounts, allowing them to own miniature versions of autos that include Porsche 911s, '70s Dodge Chargers, and Lamborghini's Sián. The Technic team also occasionally flexes its creative muscle with a life-size build, just to demonstrate that these really are the best builders on the block (pun intended). Apparently, they couldn't get enough of the Sián, because the 15-person crew just unveiled a stunning life-size recreation of the supercar, complete with exquisite attention to detail.

Built from over 400,000 pieces and 8,660 combined man-hours (that's 360 uninterrupted days), the LEGO Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is a wonder to behold. It's an exact replica of the multi-million-dollar car, down to the functioning headlights (built from Technic elements, of course), brick steering wheel, and dashboard. Furthermore, Technic's staff utilized a unique hexagonal shape to create the body, the first time such a piece has been utilized, serving two purposes: it yields a dynamic, textured finish and is an homage to the six-sided configuration that informs Lamborghini's own design language.

If only the LEGO model was up for grabs (it's a one-off creation, naturally), it'd be almost better than owning a real-deal Sián. For one, no upkeep needed, besides some dusting. Secondly, you can't drive the LEGO version, but unless you live by the Autobahn, you won't really be able to put the Sián through its paces. Not to mention, having the LEGO model sitting at home, as opposed to driving around, will prevent any damage occurring to the striking UV paint job, a bespoke affair that Lamborghini's in-house car painter applied by hand.

"Our designers love a challenge, so you can imagine their delight when we tasked them to think slightly larger than normal with this model," Lena Dixen, Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing at the LEGO Group, said in a statement. "They jumped at the chance of teaming up with our amazing designers and engineers who build these impressive life-sized models at our Kladno factory’s model production workshop in the Czech Republic, and really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with LEGO Technic."

Whet your appetite with LEGO Technic's online Sián experience and virtually experience the build in all its glory.
