Editor's Notes: The celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Levi's 501 jeans are well way underway, and they've not disappointed so far. We've seen the quintessential American brand launch exclusive Japanese-made denim, collab with Stüssy, and re-issue some of its most famous models together with creatives from around the world.
Now Slam Jam is joining in the fun, releasing a limited-edition pair of 501s along with a tank top.
Looking back towards the Far West and its history for inspiration, the Italian retailer dug into a selection of Western movies by the likes of Sergio Leone and vintage pieces from its personal archive to give Levi's the all-American "yeehaw!" treatment.
This led to it reworking pairs of organic cotton, made-in-Japan 501 jeans based on models from 1955. Using Slam Jam's signature silver color, it has added a silk screen print running down either leg in a zig-zag pattern along with a silver label on the back pocket.
The same pattern from the jeans is then also printed on a black tank top, with raw-cut armholes and the remnants of a pocket stitched on the left chest — parallel to some collaborative branding.
Slam Jam's list of collaborations seems to be getting more impressive by the day, with an exclusive Clarks drop and a pair of Nike AF1s being notable recent releases, and this second Levi's link-up is yet another big-name collab under its belt.
