Artist: Lil Wayne

Album: Funeral

Drop Date: Today, January 31. Funeral is now available on Apple Music and Spotify. Physical copies of the album are also available from the online store. Stream below.

Kobe Tribute: On the album's eighth track, “Bing James” Lil Wayne included a 24-second silence, a reference to the jersey number Kobe Bryant took on towards the end of his NBA career. Bryant passed away in a helicopter accident days before Wayne's album dropped, meaning the tribute would have been a last-minute addition.

Lil Wayne has since confirmed that the 24-second silence was added to commemorate the late great basketball star. At approximately 2:20 in the interview below, Wayne explains the decision to include the tribute at the last moment.

Tracklist: Lil Wayne is back with his new studio album, Funeral. The 24-track offering boasts an impressive roster of guest appearances, featuring everyone from Lil Baby to Adam Levine.

Big Sean and Lil Baby make an appearance on “I Do It.” He explained to XXL, “I’m a big Lil Baby fan. So it was a swap type of thing. You send me a song, I send… that type of thing. But actually he demanded that he work with me.”

Later, Adam Levine features on “Trust Nobody” and 2 Chainz surfaces on “Know You Know.” Jay Rock, Takeoff, the Dream, Lil Twist, Satan's Kid, and O.T. Genasis also feature.

Editor's Notes:  Lil Wayne has finally dropped his much-anticipated studio album Funeral. Originally slated for a 2019 release, it serves as the follow-up to his 2018 album, Tha Carter V.

Back in August Lil Wayne told Q93.3 that Funeral would have a more contemporary sound than its predecessor, and based on the initial feedback, it looks like he's come good on his claim. Given Weezy began teasing Funeral in 2016, expectations were high. See how fans are reacting below.
