Being a crucial part of the Italian sartorial landscape, it makes sense that Loro Piana FW23 takes place in the beating heart of the Italian fashion capital, Milan. While many labels see the city in which they present as a backdrop, Loro Piana recognizes it as a central force in the show. It’s why, for Milan Fashion Week, Loro Piana will become the protagonist of a series of activations tied to the Fall/Winter collection’s themes.

For a week, the newsstand in Via dei Giardini and the courtyard of the Loro Piana boutique in Via Montenapoleone will transform into a small café. Inviting a roster of young mixologists, Loro Piana will serve a menu of drinks using ingredients from Peru, New Zealand, Australia, and Mongolia, the countries that inspired the latest collection, each famed for its premium fibers. In effect, by walking into the Loro Piana Café in the heart of Milan, you are walking into the Loro Piana universe and inhabiting the collection.

As a house based around sensations, Loro Piana is equally as interested in creating beautiful, tactile garments as it is in crafting pieces that allow the wearer to live en plein air. This concept is perhaps best illustrated by the Loro Piana man. He’s active, a lover of beauty in all forms, and has mastered the art of being informally formal. The Fall/Winter 23 collection acts as a uniform for him.

Incorporating luxury fibers from the aforementioned countries — places central to Loro Piana’s continued material excellence — the collection traverses colors and atmospheres, epitomizing the brand’s affinity for spontaneous elegance.

As always, the silhouettes are soft, built with classic proportions to naturally and gracefully facilitate modern life. Easygoing tailoring in the form of single and double-breasted blazers and overcoats sit alongside clean peacoats and more modern bombers and technical blousons. Outerwear highlights include the Horsey®️ Jacket, which lands in an oversized fit, accompanying shirt jackets, and CashDenim jackets which fuel a more pragmatic side to Loro Piana.

The silhouettes of the Women’s collection are much more fluid in comparison to the clean regularity of the Men’s offering. Feminine cuts combine with the occasional sharper, more masculine line, creating an eye-catching range that retains Loro Piana’s typically luxurious yet easy aesthetic.

Volume is key here. From the outerwear, which revolves around the distinction between bold silhouettes kept in check by clean tailored trims, to the trousers which bloom at the leg before reaching a dramatically cinched ankle.

Accessories round out the collection’s attitude. While pieces like the Extra Bag in supple leather have a restrained, almost demure feel, the spacious Tasman Tote is free and adventurous. Ranging sizes and colors embody the eclectic personality of the collection as a whole.

The Men’s and Women’s collections are anchored in the same muted color palette. Signature browns and greys complement the neutral tones of rich wool and leather, with flashes of tartan working with shearling and natural fleece to bring a bolder note.

In all, Loro Piana Fall/Winter 23 is designed as the companion of an extraordinary life.
