Loro Piana

For better or worse, the phrase quiet luxury has been peddled to no end over the past couple of years. And one brand has been synonymous with this trend for refined, expertly crafted, and inherently luxurious clothes: Loro Piana.

However, Loro Piana is much more than just exquisitely simple and laboriously made clothing. And its whimsical, downright statement-making side is on full display in its 2024 Ski Collection. Specifically, the full shearling suits in its 2024 Ski Collection.

The full teddy bear uniform consists of a big fluffy parka coat with matching casual, wide-leg pants. Plus, unfortunately only available in women's sizes, there are matching hairy sheepskin boots (almost like a reversed UGG boot) and some seriously huge bucket hats made from hairy alpaca.

While all this fluffy fabric is very luxurious (and very expensive) it’s anything but quiet.

There’s a streetwear sensibility hiding in Loro Piana’s new two-piece (I’m tempted to call it a tracksuit, although that feels ridiculous for a five-figure outfit). That laidback fluffy jacket and baggy fluffy pants combination is something we’ve seen recently from the likes of Stüssy, Gramicci, and Supreme — although made of less-hairy sherpa and, of course, with far inferior craftsmanship.

While the shearling fabric takes center stage in this skiwear collection, there is of course some actual hi-tech ski gear alongside more understated winterwear. Technical suits with technology like a Three Layer Wool Storm System are proper function-oriented mountain gear.

Meanwhile, the brand’s collaboration with ROA continues, upgrading the brand's Andreas hiking boot with Loro Piana’s signature fabrics — the embodiment of quiet outdoor

In time for the new ski season (arriving at the same time as ski collections by established outdoorwear fixtures as well as a surprising skiwear collaboration by Kim Kardashian’s label) the latest from Loro Piana is available now on the brand’s website.
