Louis Vuitton is opening a temporary residency in New York to celebrate the house’s iconic Capucines bag.

In October Louis Vuitton collaborated with six leading international contemporary artists to bring their distinctive vision of the iconic bag to life. The reinterpretations include sculptures by Liu Wei and Zhao Zhao and paintings by Henry Taylor and Josh Smith. These designs speak to the fact that these luxury handbags are works of art in their own right.

Today, the Maison opens a temporary artist residency in New York’s SoHo neighborhood where all six works will be showcased alongside the handbag-meets-art-piece by Henry Taylor, which will be available for purchase there.  You can also shop Taylor's limited-edition "Artycapucine" via LV's webshop (but it'll set you back $8,850).

Louis Vuitton's temporary artist residency is at 122 Greene Street in New York City starting today, November 13, and running through January. Take a close look at what you can expect in the gallery above.
