Last year, MAD Paris announced the release of two major collaborations. The Parisian customizer chose the legendary Audemars Piguet Royal Oak as its canvas, working with 1017 ALYX 9SM and Casablanca to give the iconic timepiece a modern lift. While images of these collaborations did the rounds on Instagram, the actual products seemed almost mythical, with no clear way to cop.

Luckily, Browns has a pretty wild luxury watch offering, and you can secure both collaborations there. The 1017 ALYX 9SM Royal Oak has been available for a long time now, but we only recently noticed that the Casablanca Royal Oaks were up for sale.

Landing as a two-part package, Casablanca’s take on the famous timepiece is an ode to summertime. As we’ve come to expect from Charaf Tajer, the watches feature beautiful pastel color blocking against a stainless steel case, epitomizing the kind of sunny, ’70s-leaning design of the brand.

It’s a design that stands in stark contrast to the usual sleek, understated finish of an Audemars Piguet timepiece which has, understandably, divided fans. For many, the MAD Paris x Casablanca Audemars Piguet Royal Oak goes against all that the storied watchmaker stands for — longevity and elegance — while others see the collaboration as yet another reason why AP has become the go-to choice for the modern luxury watch lover, proving its versatility across the board.

Whichever side you fall on, there’s no denying that the MAD Paris x Casablanca Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is a conversation starter. At its core, it’s an experiment in branding and hype, and one that we think has succeeded. Even though it's half its original price, would you still drop $60,000 on it?
