What We’re Saying: Global lifestyle brand Madhappy has teamed up with Vans for its first-ever footwear collaboration. Born out of an appreciation for self-expression, the project centers around the OG Style 43 LX from the Vault by Vans division, as we find the sneaker incorporating playful branding and customizable details.

The upper of the Madhappy x Vault by Vans OG Style 43 LX is crafted from a light-colored canvas that makes way for the contrasting stitching, providing pops of color to the sneaker. The stitch detail is asymmetrical, leaving each respective shoe with its own accent color. On the tongue you will find a multicolored Madhappy logo that gives the predominantly neutral sneaker additional dashes of color. The OG Style 43 LX is then finished with an ice blue sole, which is quite rare for a Vans shoe.

As the headline of this article points out, the collaboration is customizable — fully customizable may be a slight stretch, but to be honest, the shoe does lend itself to easy customization with its neutral base and canvas construction. Madhappy did, however, design its OG Style 43 LX with customization in mind, as each pair comes with a set of beads — including a blend of letters, colors, and symbols — allowing you to implement an individual message. This particular design detail is meant to foster community and camaraderie through customization. And let's not forget quite possibly the coolest element of the shoe. It features a distinctive heel that lets you fold it down and wear it as a slide.

Madhappy originated to create conversation around mental health. Over the past few years, the brand has continually issued impactful collections and products designed specifically to promote optimism.

You can look forward to the debut Madhappy footwear collab releasing on June 15 exclusively through Madhappy.com.
