Marni and G-Shock have teamed up for their first collaborative timepiece, showcasing the luxury fashion brand’s take on the 5600 series.

Marni's typically colorful tendencies are splashed across the GMD-S5610MA-7ER watch, a smaller iteration of G-Shock's classic 5600 watch. This creates an effect that feels right in the wheelhouse of the late great Stephen Sprouse and his work at Louis Vuitton, though the late artist's foundation didn't directly have anything to do with this collab.

As expected, the G-Shock 5600 series enjoys some impressive specs: 200 meters of water resistance, a shockproof case, and a notoriously accurate digital time display, all made all the more explosive with Marni's satisfyingly exuberantly illustrative all-over branding.

Once a rarity in the world of watches, fashion collaborations are de rigeuer across all aspects of the watch world. This year alone was full of big-name fashion watch drops like MM6 Maison Margiela x Timex, Girard Perregaux x YSL, and even Zenith x Porter. A real high-low mix.

Now more than ever, clearly, watch brands are reaching across the aisle, driven by a serious need for playful creativity and the rise of new collectors.

But there's a bit of the OG culture in this collab. Like, the part of me that's still nostalgic for the early-2010s streetwear days would've line up in NYC to cop this watch.

Indeed, perhaps the best part of this collab is seeing a newish version of an otherwise classic model from G-Shock get a fit-friendly paint job.

If you're looking to add the Marni x G-Shock GMD-S5610MA-7ER to your collection, it will be available on November 6 exclusively at Marni’s web store and in select Marni locations.
