MATCHESFASHION Innovators returns every year to champion the next generation of design talent. Each young Innovator is paired with an established designer for a series of exclusive conversations as they consider what it means to work in fashion today, exploring each other’s work and style along the way.
While many of the best young British designers of the moment look to the underground and subculture for their inspiration, S.S. Daley looks at the other end of the spectrum.
Launched in 2020 as part of designer Steven Stokey-Daley’s final degree collection at London’s University of Westminster, S.S. Daley examines themes of class, aristocracy, and British public-school tradition. Using repurposed materials and donated deadstock fabrics, S.S. Daley exaggerates tradition, placing it under the microscope to such an extent that it becomes a dramatic caricature of itself.

Jupp Sweater
Sweater vests have definitely experienced a renaissance in recent seasons. Before that, though, they were reserved for specific demographics, one of which is the focus of S.S. Daley collections.
Majok Shirt
Cut from pure silk, the Majok Shirt is an oversized masterpiece. Small details like the bow-tied pocket fastening and contrast stripe panels to the arms are the cherry on top.
Hockney Trousers
Named after David Hockney, an artist as well known for his artwork as his bold, color-blocked suits, this pair of pleated pants doesn't disappoint.
Forster Shirt
Detailed with traditional dress-shirt ruffles along the fastening, this cotton shirt is given a subtle update with a Cuban collar fastening. It makes it more wearable in everyday life without losing the formal edge.
Oliver Tank Top
Tank tops don't usually come this quaint. A floral embellishment to the chest complements the cream and baby-blue woolen build.
Waterworth Jacket
The biggest shirt jacket of the season. The Waterworth Jacket is cut from pure wool and lined with silk for signature S.S. Daley luxury.
Vivek Shorts
Not all pleats are made equal. The Vivek Shorts are tailored with a double-folded pleat to each leg which — at shorts length — become central focuses of the final silhouette.
Tuke Shirt
An archetypical British floral pattern sets the tone for the Tuke Shirt. Understated with hits of personality, it's a strong foundation to build your fits around.
Lambert Trousers
Arguably the most dramatic piece of the FW21 collection, these floral Lambert Trousers boast an extremely wide leg as well as a realistic floral motif throughout.
