What We’re Saying: MCQ, Alexander Mcqueen's diffusion line, has unveiled its latest sneaker: the MCQ Aratana. The sneaker is co-designed by Myles O’Meally and Slimane Cherif Khaldi. O’Meally is the founder of product creation company Areté, which works closely with Raf Simons and Athletics Footwear.

The MCQ Aratana follows in the same vein as Raf Simons’ new (Runner) collection, in that it is a modern take on athletic sneakers. The sneaker’s sole features modular capabilities, allowing the wearer to incorporate add-ons (which will be released at a later date). The added element of customization is one of the selling points of the sneaker.

The Aratana features a mix of recycled leather and mesh, a double-cord lacing system, and 1-10% Bloom™ material in the midsole. Bloom™ material transforms harmful algae into a substitute for plastic.
