The Denim You Need That Won't Break the Bank
While the world adjusts to social distancing and working from home, we suddenly have more time on our hands. At Highsnobiety, we see this as an opportunity to reset. A handful of our staffers, for example, have been using this time to purge their closets, reimagine themselves, and make room for something new.
One trend that's on our radar right now is denim. Of course, it's always been the foundation of many of our wardrobes, but there's been an explosion of it for 2020. From '90s washes to relaxed silhouettes to white jeans to a lot more, we might just spend the next few months only wearing denim, indoors or outdoors.
To help you get in on the look, we teamed up with Walmart to curate a selection of our favorite denim that won't break the bank. From staple brands like Levi's, Dickies, and Wrangler to No Boundaries, Walmart's private label brand that has its finger on the style pulse, scroll down to check out the pieces we're eyeing.
Wrangler Men's Regular Fit Jeans
If you don't already own a pair of light stonewash jeans, these ones by Wrangler are a great place to start. The brand is a denim OG, and the classic styling (three front pockets, two back pockets) means you'll get a lot of wear out of them. Pair with a white tee and your favorite kicks; to make more of a statement, team with a matching denim jacket and flex in denim head to toe.
Genuine Dickies Men's Long Sleeve Button Down Denim Shirt
There's something about a denim work shirt that always looks fresh. This one by Dickies is 100% cotton, which means it'll breath nicely when things get warmer. Wear it unbuttoned over a vintage concert tee and stonewash jeans or turn it up a few notches by pairing it with some tie-dye shorts.
Levi's Men's 511 Slim Fit Jeans
We're still surprised by how many people haven't tried white jeans yet. Take it from us: they're just as versatile as blue jeans. These ones by Levi's are cut close to the body, so they look polished rather than sloppy. For something chic, pair with a fine-knit beige sweater and leather lace-up shoes; for something more casual, pair with a Baja hoodie and white kicks.
No Boundaries Men's Denim Jacket with Fleece Hood
When it feels warm one day and cooler the next, you need pieces that'll do double duty. This denim jacket by No Boundaries remixes the classic jean jacket with a fleece hood and sleeves for some cozy vibes. We like it with camo pants and combat boots.
Dickies Men's Relaxed Fit Double Knee Carpenter Jean
If, like us, you're a denim enthusiast, the carpenter jean is a must. You've gotta try it, especially if '90s is a big part of your style. We love these because Dickies has the street cred to make them look both functional and on trend. The stonewash blue looks great with a black leather jacket and chunky sneakers. For a different flavor, try them with cowboy boots and a white tee.
Levi's Men's Denim Trucker Jacket
Black denim jackets are underrated. While most favor blue, we're opting for black. Taking our cue from this classic silhouette, we're keeping the rest of our 'fit simple: white tee, black chinos, low-top white leather sneakers.
Levi's Men's 505 Regular Fit Jeans
If you only wear black, blue, and gray, now's the time to experiment. This shade of khaki is an easy way to add some color to your wardrobe. Pair with a red sweatshirt for a laid-back look, or style with a blazer for something more pulled together.
Levi's Men's 569 Loose Straight Shorts
One of our favorite silhouettes this year is the relaxed fit, and this also applies to shorts. Men's shorts have been getting slimmer and shorter in the last few seasons, but Levi's makes the case to loosen up with these shorts in a light-blue wash. Look closely at how they're styled in this picture – that's exactly how we'll be wearing them, rolled up socks and all.
