Michael Casper Embodies the Despair of "Teenage Apathy" on His Debut
Michael Casper is a fresh face on the music scene who is peddling alternative guitar-driven songs blurring the line between hip-hop and R&B into the atmosphere. At the tender age of 19, he currently operates within a constant state of confusion as he impulsively questions everything around him.
Highsnobiety was given the honor of introducing his work to the world with the premiere of his debut single "teenage apathy." At its core, the smoky slow jam represents "a conversation on the difference between love and codependency." Casper broke down the concept even further in a brief email to us.
"Sometimes it's hard to decipher whether or not you're in love or just scared of being alone," he wrote. "We 'fall in love' without any real reason. We fantasize love and romance and will use anyone that will give us attention to fill this space—a temporary placeholder. We know the chances of it lasting are slim, but in that moment, we believe it's real. Love will make someone act in a way they wouldn't have before. this realization—this conversation— is the experience of teenage apathy."
