Launched in London in 2016, British eyewear brand MONC recently released its Conscious Collection — a range of sunglasses made using only sustainable materials and responsible design. In eyewear production, pieces are usually cut from acetate material, of which as much as 80 percent can be wasted. Using bio-acetate, biodegradable frames, and packaging made from recycled cups, MONC is on a mission towards a plastic-free future.

From its family-run factory in Italy, the brand produces handmade frames that add that guilt-free gleam to your look. Made without the use of fossil fuels, frames in the new collection take inspiration from neighbourhoods across the globe. From Príncipe Real in Lisbon to Monti in Rome, the design, culture, and craftsmanship of each area find its way into each unique eyewear piece.

These sustainable sunnies, which come in a wide range of color options, are available via the MONC website and at Liberty of London.
