The Days of Dinner Party Dress-Ups Are Finally Back Upon Us
We're plunging headfirst into Holiday season these next weeks, and all of the fun and fancy and even formal events that come with it. As previously established, 2024 has (finally) brought back the art of styling for the occasion, and reintroduced us to both day and evening wear with a spark.
So, to make sure you're dressed to the nines at every which opportunity, Mr Porter and us thought it'd be a good idea to suggest to you some head-to-toe options of evergreen holiday evening wear.
Be it for the company's end-of-year celebrations, Friendsgiving, or the annual family hoopla, adding any of the below into your seasonal rotation is sure to catapult you to the top of the merry gathering's best dressed list.
Holiday Evening Wear for Timelessly Festive Party Looks:
Upper Half
Moving top-down, we begin with what you'll be wearing above-belt. While black-tie might read as too severe, a lighter colored suit situation is sure to enchant.
And don't let anyone tell you that a brighter palette is too summery either. Going up a shade or two (or three) from one's darker standards creates a slightly more casual, but equally elegant exterior, so you won't miss the mark in either direction of the dress code spectrum.
If you prefer something more modular than a button-down and two-piece, why not go for a sleek black turtle neck and nice jacket instead?
Take, for instance, this forrest-y leather zip-up. Its Christmas tree green gives it a subtle holiday appeal, without veering too far off into tacky territory, and can double-function far beyond the evening wear motto.
Bottom Half
As far as the lower section of the outfit's concerned, you're obviously gonna want to thoughtfully pair the above- with scheme and theme-befitting below-belt pieces.
Earth tones are easily compatible and mingle best amongst each other, whereas most prefer to mix black only with more black, or maybe grays and stark whites. Whichever way you want it, a carefully coordinated loafer or monk strap shoe will rarely – if ever – misfire in tandem.
Accessories
Not unlike the delicious foods you'll be indulging in, your holiday evening wear ensemble, too, will profit from some garnishing. Depending on your choice of shirt, you may want to add a neck or even bow tie, for a little pop of something extra.
There's nothing wrong with keeping it simple though, and focusing attention elsewhere – like, say, one's wrist. There are few things as classy as a quality watch. Consider it an early gift to yourself, a premature pull from the stocking – and by stocking I mean savings account.
